whats the point of pricing people out of a market that is served by us ? what would the result be if cars were priced of the road ? how much less transport would be needed if it didnt have feed private motoring ? as a percentage of road transport I would say that feeding the needs of private motorists is significant and would result in many job loses in transport if it were to be cut , its an unbelivable arogance that truckers have in that they think they have more right to use the road network than anyone else .

I don't necessarily disagree but 1200 quid a year for a truck does kind of give it priority over cars ..................................... some might say.

Takes off police hat for a second

The prices of diesel does affect everyone not just the motorist. You ask those that do the food shopping in your household how much her (or his) food bill has gone up by.

The only reason for the increase is because the haulage companies are charging more to get the food from producer to seller and we all know that extra cost isnt going on your wages its going on the fuel

So any reduction in fuel price will benefit everyone

Puts police hat back on

Of course I do not condone any form of ilegal action though

2 sides to this arguement. as i dont have a police hat, in my heart im all for it.

but the reverse side of the coin, how many drivers, wether they be car, truck, boat or even plane, worry about shoving litres of guinnes down their throats at a rough equivelent cost of £6 a litre? and how many folk will still buy beer when it gets to £7 or £8 pound a litre in a pub? they will be the same folk necking pint after pint and moaning about how they will get to work on monday though.

i love a pint or several, but that is a luxury. fuel is a necessity for me in a rural area.

and if push come to shove, the ale would have to stop flowing before the petrol.

sadly we have another 3 years of this high prices before we can vote against it. but even then, apathy will rule and nothing will change.

In 1993, the Conservatives introduced the Fuel Price Escalator as a way of both raising revenue and discouraging car use. This was abandoned in 1999 but is the cause of our fuel being one of the most expensive.
Much as I despise the labour party do you honestly think fuel prices will drop under the conservatives or sandal wearing liberals.Far two long we have made this mistake replacing one lot of twats by another what we need is a new party who don't bang on about a single issue ie Europe or immigration, and put the country write.

Just had a quick look on the bbc news website ref the protests and as expected, A complete and utter waste of time.

BBC wrote:
Around eight protesters gathered at Chester Services, on the M56, before moving to a protest point at the gates of the Ellesmere Port refinery, but the demonstration was later abandoned.

BBC wrote:
Fifteen fuel price protesters arrived at the giant Fawley refinery in Southampton, but at Grangemouth no demonstrators turned up.

BBC wrote:
There were no lorry drivers at the fuel depot at Purfleet, Essex, where a demonstration was due to be staged - but there was a protest from a lone pensioner.

June Walker, 61, of Rainham, Essex, said: "I've got nothing to do with the haulage industry. I'm just a pensioner who pays £57 to fill up a Peugeot 307."

BBC wrote:
There were eight supporters who turned out for the Cardiff protest, outside the Texaco refinery at the city's Roath Dock.

BBC wrote:
There were also some eight protesters at Jarrow - all on foot.

Yet again the industry makes a fool of itself by shouting a lot but doing naff all.

So EOTR which one of the above protesters were you?
